On May 2, 1963, William Bounds filed for a U.S. patent on a pepper mill he called “Shake ‘N Twist.” Made in the USA, the Shake ‘N Twist combo is the William Bounds classic that started it all. For those who enjoy freshly ground pepper, but still prefer to shake salt, founder Bill Bounds invented an ingenious solution by combining a salt shaker and pepper mill into a single elegant silhouette. Simply fill the top with table salt and the bottom with any of our savory pepper blends and never need to set one down for the other again. The tapered body allows for the perfect grip, while the fully transparent mill makes it easy to tell when it’s time for a refill.
Bill also incorporated the first easy adjustment ring that can be set to a coarse, medium, or fine pepper grind and the Shake ‘N Twist was born! The exclusive William Bounds stainless and ceramic milling mechanism, with no interlocking parts, prevents the mill from jamming or wearing out. Designed to crush rather than grind ingredients, our milling mechanism maximizes the additional fresh flavor of pepper in any dish.
