The filter and the receptacle should be taken out for cleaning after each use. They are securely locked in place when juicing, and sometimes are hard to be taken out due to vaccum effect. You can tug them up with some force, or you can use the handle of a steel spoon or fork to loosen them up first by digging their edges.
